Painting Trip

I am leaving tomorrow for a 10 day painting trip in my homestate, Mississippi.

I'll be traveling some of the back roads looking for good light and good subjects. Please check back around the first of May.

I spend some time riding around looking for likely painting sites. This charming farmhouse is really not too far from me. Much building is taking place outside 485 in Charlotte, but it is still possible to find rural pockets to paint.

The Red Umbrella (sold)

I love to garden and also take garden tours--a inspiration for gardening and painting ideas. This garden entrance was perfect for a painting...the dark foreground with a few ellipses of light opening into the green expanse of the garden with that lovely focal point, the red umbrella.
