Abandoned Building with Vines (sold)

8x10, oil on canvas panel

Show me an abandoned building and I'll paint it. It's hard to beat that patina of age and neglect....much more interesting than the picturesque.

After the Rain

8x10, oil on canvas panel
95.00, includes shipping
On my last plein air painting trip is rained for 2 days and was overcast some of the rest of the time--not good conditions for someone who likes to paint light. I took this photo of a puddle by the gravel road just as a bit of sun showed up.

Koi

6x8, oil on canvas panel
95.00, includes shipping
I had a chance to visit a koi farm and took many, many pictures. They are so beautiful. It is just a pleasure to paint them. This is a "soft" painting, with few hard edges.

Walking the Dog

6x8, oil on canvas panel
95.00
My goal this summer is to paint more figures and to use more figures in my landscapes. I am also playing with camera adjustments trying to get rid of the washed out look. It seems I have also made the image much smaller.

Grazing Horse, Two o'clock

9x12, oil on canvas panel
95.00
This is larger format compared to my other paintings. With a wide frame this painting would work well on a wall over a table, etc. To me, anything under 8x10 should be placed on a small easel and displayed in a bookcase or on a table. Can you tell I have strong opinions?

How about a nice, cool looking painting of water while we are all sweltering in this heat wave?

Providence Produce, Charlotte, NC (sold)

8x8, oil on canvas panel
95.00, includes shipping
This charming produce stand is a few miles from my house. They sell delicious corn and the people are nice. My painting friend, Jessica, and I set up around 9:00 in the trees behind the stand. By 11:00 we were sweltering in our high humidity heat wave Charlotte weather. The subject was worth it. I also took photos of other sides of the stand and plan to do a small series.

The Red Truck

This scene is from Possum Corner, Mississippi. If you have been following my blog you may recall my painting of The Road to Possum Corner. I loved the old red shed/barn with the intense shade and the truck, of course. I'm so glad places like this still exist.

Pine Trees on the Hill

8x10, oil on canvas pane

I especially enjoy painting pine trees because of the openness between the limbs, letting the sky show through. I chose to lean toward lavender for the sky to accentuate the misty atmosphere.

I collect abandoned bird nests. The one in this painting comes from a horse farm and is made of mane and tail horse hair. The egg was found abandoned on the ground.
