Working the Field

9x11, oil on masonite

This painting has been varnished, hence the strange color of the hedgerow behind the farm equipment. I have not yet figured out how to advoid the glare of varnish.

I will be out of town through next Tuesday. Please check back then for a new posting.

Four Studies

5x7, oil on canvas panel
These 4 studies were done over the weekend as warm ups for plein air painting. We had a beautiful day, and it was delightful to be outside to paint. Each painting is $20 plus 3.00 for shipping. They are small, but would have real significance if framed with a wide frame. Frames make all the difference in the world! If you are interested in all four, please make an offer.

The second one from the top has been sold.

The Bridge at the Duck Pond

8x10, oil on canvas panel

I painted this last Saturday at Freedom Park in Charlotte in a Paint Out organized by Scott Boyle. There were probably about 25 people there sketching or painting. It's fun to paint with a group and see the different interpretations of some of the same subject matter.

Dancing Pears

11x14, oil on board

The background of this painting is black. It did not photograph well because I had varnished it. Note to self: Always take photo BEFORE varnishing.

Still Life with Lemons

11x14, oil on canvas
I'm back from my two week trip and it's good to be home and holding a paintbrush once again. My sister, cousin, and I visited my Aunt Marianne, age 90, still pretty and sharp as a tack. She was married to my Mother's twin brother. Aunt Marianne kept the three of us busy making a family scrapbook of family from several generations ago. It was wonderful fun, and I found out so much about one side of my family.

Black Convertible, Key West

11x16, oil on board

I am currently out of town, visiting family, until the end of this month. I brought my laptop with plenty of paintings to post, but have had problems with my computer. It's working tonight, but I'm not too optimistic about the rest of my visits. If no other posts appear, please check back around the 27th of this month.
