In the Neighborhood

6x8, oil on canvas panel
This is a rather common scene in a neighborhood, but still I was struck by what good composition potential it had. A small opening always moves the viewer into the painting, while the geometric lines of the house is a great foil for the organic lines of the trees and shrubs.
Often we look for something extraordinary to paint when an everyday scene can be be more interesting and absorbing.

Hi Connie. It's been a while since I stopped in. For some reason your posts no longer show up in my daily feed of blogs I follow. Strange. But, I just thought I'd come by to see what you're up to! It all looks great!

It is a good composition. You made good use of your neighborhood resource.
