The Window

5x7, oil on canvas panel

Sigh. Another washed out photo. Could the humidity have anything to do with it?
Charlotte. Is. Hot.

Boats in the Yard, Winter's Bone

5x7, oil on canvas panel

This painting looks washed out and wimpy in the photo. I looks fine "in person."

Yesterday I saw Winter's Bone, an indie movie. It was incredibly bleak and gritty with an intriguing story, good writing, and outstanding acting. I won't give away the story line, but I do recommend it for adults, although it was based on a novel written for young adults, which I assume means high school and college age.

A Day on the Water

6x8, oil on canvas panel
I'm not sure where the brush swipe across the trees came from. I suppose the painting gnomes have been at it again. It only showed up on the photo.

Work in Progress

I love to see a work in progress because it opens a little window for seeing an artist's technique.

Barn in a Field of Daisies

8x10, oil on canvas panel
I found this scene on a trip through Alabama. I stopped, made some sketches, and took some photos. The light was really spectacular that day. Many of these barns are disappearing from the southern states as farms are sold for housing or mall developments. This one looked like it might still be in use.

Tux (sold)

8x10
This is Tux, a most adorable schnauzer. A friend of the owners commissioned me to paint Tux as a surprise for them. It will be framed in a wide silver plein air frame which should compliment his coloring well.

Pasture under a July Sky, Union County, NC

5x7, oil on canvas panel
I've had a request to post a photo that shows my face, so I shall spiff up and take one. If you've not tried it, taking your own photo is not an easy job. I've also had a few questions about my palette, brushes, techniques, etc. I'll get to those soon.
