Red Roof, White Boat

11x 14
oil on canvas panel

I have found it always pays to keep old  photos.  This painting is based on a photo
I took years ago (can we say about 30!) in Canada on a painting trip
sponsored by University of Maryland.  I aways loved the composition and light on the boat and
buildings.  It was a joy to paint!

Event Marker: Free Painting

8x10, oil on canvas panel

To mark my year (plus a few months) of selling on the internet, I shall be giving away the painting above. The drawing will be Friday night, August 1. I'll announce the winner on the next day, August 2. To have your name entered in the drawing, please leave a comment on any of the posts between now and Friday. Please give me a way to identify you such as your name (first is fine) and a city or state in case there are two Lindas or Bobs. If you can't get the comment section to work for you, email me at gatlinsnipes@hotmail.com

I'll pay the postage if you live in the US. If not, you will need to spring for it.

Farmhouse, Fairview, NC (sold)

8x8, oil on canvas panel
This scene is from a working farm close to Asheville, NC. One family has owned it for several generations. When I visit I feel as if I've gone back in time when most of the US was rural and most of the people were farmers. All the grandchildren come here to ride horses.

Charlotte Farmhouse (sold)

8x10, oil on canvas panel

I spend some time riding around looking for likely painting sites. This charming farmhouse is really not too far from me. Much building is taking place outside 485 in Charlotte, but it is still possible to find rural pockets to paint.
